EUPHORIA FILM FESTIVAL

A landmark celebration of European Cinema in Los Angeles

In 2014, ELMA partnered with 13 EU Consulates in Los Angeles and San Francisco and the USC School of Cinematic Arts to produce the EUphoria Film Festival, a landmark event for European cinema in Los Angeles. Over the course of six days, audiences were invited to discover award-winning films and box office successes from across the European Union, with 13 countries represented: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, and Poland.

The festival was designed to highlight the richness and diversity of European film culture and to foster greater awareness of the EU’s contemporary cinematic voices within the United States. Screenings of dramatic and documentary features were presented free of charge, and the opening night reception celebrated European heritage through food and community.

As we look ahead, EUphoria stands as an inspiring model of the kind of ambitious cultural programming ELMA is committed to supporting in Los Angeles.
